Does Israel realize, that when they give in to International pressure to give away parts of Eretz Yisroel?
(Gush Katif, Gaza) to Terrorists Instead of respect the only response they'll get is temporary international respect for a few days.
(Like what happened after Israel gave away Gush Katif, Gaza, August 2005)
Immediately Followed by even more pressure to give away much more land (The Entire West Bank) to terrorists.
The only way the world will respect Israel is if they stand firm and refuse to give away any land to Terrorists.
I, too, am convinced that unilateral territorial concessions on Israel's part yield nothing more than very fleeting international respect, followed by more pressure to give away more (and more terrorism). The only question is when a consensus will arise in Israel around that view - and I don't think that it is there yet. There was a temporary realization even among dovish Israelis that their desire for peace was not being reciprocated by the Palestinian Authority in 2000 (remember when the late Yasser Arafat started a new intifada - and there was the grisly photo of a man with bloodstained palms gloating to onlookers in Ramallah about the Israeli soldiers he had murdered?), but it seems as though - at least up until now - when terrorism becomes less of a problem, only hawks seem to recognize this principle.
